The role of full-backs has evolved more in recent times, with inverted fullbacks being more integral to how teams set up. They are now often seen drifting into midfield, creating overloads and dictating play from deep positions.

4. Reece James (Chelsea)
This season, Reece James has improved on his injury record that has often deprived him of the accolades his talent deserves.
